Paris Saint-Germain will open the twelfth round of Ligue 1 with a showdown with struggling LOSC Lille. The French champions of the last two years will clash on Friday. What to expect from the match?
Unlike last season, Paris is the overwhelming leader of the competition. It lost only twice, losing to Rennes and drawing with Marseille in the last round. It has a seven-point lead over Lens at the top of the league.
Lille, on the other hand, seem to have a post-match hangover, their performances and results have gone downhill and the Doges have only fifteen points. On the other hand, they are only four points behind third-placed Nice, so the next two games could change the situation completely.
Paris is relying on the goal-scoring Kylian Mbappé, who has already scored five times in the league and added four assists. Lionel Messi, on the other hand, is waiting for his first Ligue 1 goal, while he has already scored three times in the Champions League.
Lille can thank Jonathan David for their current position in the table, the Canadian playmaker has already hit seven times and scored 50 percent of the goals of last year’s champions. Turkish hitman Burak Yilmaz boasts a 3+2 record.
PSG are struggling defensively, keeping a clean sheet in only one of their last four games. They have scored twice more.
Lille, on the other hand, would like to score more often and have not scored more than one goal in four of their last five games.
Given the form of the visitors and the ever-improving form of Lionel Messi, I think Paris will win by two or more goals.
