PSG will lose their biggest star. Kylian Mbappé is most likely heading to Real Madrid to fulfil his childhood dream. However, his departure has an unpleasant twist in France, with the Parisian club refusing to pay the player’s salary and bonuses. The final amount is expected to be around 80 million euros.

The latest attempts to change his mind

Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was never happy with Mbappé leaving the team without any financial compensation, after all he came for 180 million euros from Monaco and got an incredible loyalty bonus for signing a new contract a few years ago. So the Qatari owner still tried to change the Frenchman’s mind.

Al-Khelaifi should have told Mbappe that he couldn’t join PSG’s biggest rival, and for free to boot. Meanwhile, Real Madrid have never been Paris’ biggest rival, as they have not met many times in the Champions League and the quality of the teams is completely incomparable, either now or in the recent past.

Another phrase the PSG president had to utter was that great players like Haaland and Bellingham left for a fee that helped their previous clubs. Every football fan knows that Al-Khelaifi would never have let Mbappé leave for the amount that Dortmund let Haaland or Bellingham leave for. So the Frenchman was more or less left with no choice but to leave when his contract expired.

The last attempt was to be a speech in which Al-Khelaifi certifies Mbappé of supporting the Super League with his transfer. As is well known, only Barcelona and Real Madrid are in favour of the formation of the Super League. PSG is one of the clubs that are explicitly against it.

PSG owes Mbappé €80 million

How can it be that a club does not pay a player’s salary and promised bonuses? Either the club doesn’t have the money, which obviously can’t be the case for PSG, or they just don’t pay in protest. Al-Khelaifi is furious about Mbappé’s departure and therefore is not sending the player the money he was promised.

French newspaper L’Equipe reports that the sum should add up to some 80 million euros. Just to give you an idea, Mbappé did not receive the agreed bonus in February, when he was supposed to receive the money for reaching the Champions League quarter-finals. At the same time, the Frenchman did not receive his traditional salary for the month of April, which amounts to some 10 million euros.

Mbappé’s lawyers should already be in the game, directing that the player gets his money. It is so clear from PSG’s behaviour that the French striker is not in the good graces of his current club, even though he postponed his departure in 2022 by 2 years and helped them to the Champions League semi-finals this season.
