The Parisian side won the league last season, but nothing more. Neither the French Cup, nor the coveted and much desired Champions League, for which no coach settled in the club for a significantly longer period of time.
And neither will Mauricio Pochettino. It is almost 100% certain that he will end up on the bench of the French champion. But there is a catch. The club still hasn’t found an adequate and preferably even better replacement.
The dream Zinedine Zidane won’t be out for some time at least, speculation of a move to France was dismissed by the legendary Jose Mourinho and now PSG have tried to turn to the experienced and successful coach Massimiliano Allegri.
Allegri returned to Juventus a year ago after dominating the Italian league with the Turin outfit in the past. Apparently, his departure was one of the reasons why Juventus were not fully competitive in the league for two years.
PSG offered him a three-year contract during which he would receive a net salary of €12 million per season. From an economic point of view, it would have been a dream contract for the Italian. In addition, he would manage stars like Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Neymar.
But none of this tempted Allegri. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Allegri turned down the offer, saying that he had promised the Turin outfit a return to the top and would like to keep his promise. It’s worth noting that he earns around €8 million a year at Juventus.
Thus, PSG now intends to turn to Christophe Galtier, who led Lille to the title in the 2020/21 season.
