Paris Saint-Germain opened this year’s Champions League with a win over Dortmund and a loss to Newcastle, while AC Milan had two draws. On Wednesday evening, the French and Italian teams of the “group of death” clashed in a mutual match. The home side won 3-0 at the Parc des Princes, with Mbappé, Kolo Muani and Lee scoring.

The game was played at a solid pace from the start, with the visitors avoiding any hard fouls early on. Defender Thiaw and midfielder Krunic saw early yellow cards for them during the opening ten minutes. In the 16th minute, the home side’s Hakimi was also cautioned in the same manner.

Tomori’s subsequent direct free-kick from a promising position only hit the Paris wall. Five minutes later, Mbappé failed on the other end, his shot from just outside the sixteen was caught by goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

An interesting shot from Milan’s Leão ended just wide of the right post on 27 minutes. Kylian Mbappé tried again in the 30th, finishing a fast break with a shot from outside the box. Two minutes later, the star Frenchman was happy to score.

In front of the whitewash, he received the ball from Zaire-Emery, who headed it into the penalty area and then sent it down the ground to the left post. Maignan had virtually no time to react to this quick finish from the speedy striker.

There was one substitution at half-time, specifically in the AC Milan ranks. Malick Thiaw was replaced by Davide Calabria. After two minutes on the pitch, he saw PSG’s second goal.

This time, however, the home side celebrated prematurely. Ousmane Dembélé’s intervention was preceded by a foul in the middle of the pitch by Ugarte, which was confirmed by VAR. However, in the 53rd minute it was indeed 2-0.

Despite the Rossoneri’s numerical superiority in their own penalty area, Dembélé was again dangerous after a short corner. Maignan saved it, but he was short on Randal Kolo Muani’s finish. Mbappé’s attempt was defused moments later.

The AC Milan players were not very successful in attack and were unable to create the pressure needed to get back into the points battle. Nevertheless, Rafael Leão had a good chance in the 78th minute, but his shot from an angle and sent in from a fall was saved by goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma at the front post.

In the 82nd minute, his counterpart Maignan made another save, again against Mbappé. This time he was helped by the goal structure to push the ball to safety. At the end of regulation time, a goal was scored to make it 3-0.

Zaire-Emery crossed from the right, Ramos crossed the ball behind him and Lee Kang-in finished successfully. It was the first ever goal for the South Korean midfielder in a PSG jersey. His club now have six points in the Champions League, AC Milan have two.

The simultaneous match in Group F between Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund ended 0:1. Felix Nmecha scored at the end of the first half. Both teams are currently on four points in the table.
