Promoter Marhansky about the title challenger Tokhtarov: If he doesn’t make weight with us for the third time, we will terminate his contract!

The RFA organization dealt with a lot of trouble on Friday. Václav Sivák’s title fight with Ruslan Tokhtarov was almost cancelled because he did not meet the weight limit. The current stipulation is that he must make the same weight as he did at the public weigh-ins, and promoter Boris Marhansky outlined that he would be given one last chance or he would be out of the RFA.

The fight was arranged at 66kg under K1 rules, but the Austrian fighter Tokhtarov outweighed him by two kilos, which is out of the question in a title fight.

He lost 40 per cent of his payday for the fight and he is still not sure that he will be in the fight at all. Sivak’s team set a condition that he must weigh the same as he did at the public weigh-in.

This will be a rather difficult task, for example in the Octagon Michal Kotalik had a similar condition, who then did not even try to weigh in and did not enter the fight.

There was really little to cancel the fight. The RFA was already looking for a replacement, but eventually a deal was reached, and Tokhtarov is not happy with the terms of Sivak’s team, but he has no choice.

This means only Sivak will be going for the title, and his opponent is dealing with a possible end in the organization. Promoter Boris Marhansky has admitted that if he doesn’t make weight next time, he won’t want to continue working with him.

“I tell myself that this is an important title fight, not maybe a duel in the prelims. Wrestlers should take extra care to make weight. This applies especially to the fighters from Austria.

It has happened to some of them in the past, Ruslan is the third in the rankings. That’s why I told his management that if he doesn’t make weight for the third time, we will terminate his contract. We willnot give him another chance,” he said in an interview with Sport.cz.

The RFA 10 tournament in Havířov takes place today, starting at 6 pm, when free prelims will be available on YouTube. The tournament will be followed by the PPV.
