Productivity lesson: Czechs waste two big chances, then lose on first shot on goal
The Czech national team failed to win their fourth match of the group stage of the Nations League, losing 0:2 to the Spaniards in Malaga. In any case, the management team can be pleased with a decent performance, especially a good passage in the first half.
The Czech national team failed to win their fourth match of the Nations League group stage, losing 0:2 to the Spanish in Malaga. In any case, the management team can be pleased with a decent performance, especially a good passage in the first half.
As expected, the Spaniards dominated the ball from the first minute, but Jakub Pesek had the first chance. However, he hesitated too much with his shot and got caught by the defending players. In the 18th minute, Václav Černý got on the end of a cross and the home goalkeeper had to make a great save.
The Czech Republic’s good passage was closed by Jan Kuchta’s missed shot. The Spaniards took advantage of their first action. Marco Asensio turned smartly in the whitewash and Carlos Soler then cleared into an empty net.
The second part of the first half was not as entertaining and they went into the booths with a 1:0 scoreline.
After the change of sides, Pešek tried to lob the ball, but it just missed the net. The Czech Republic continued to keep up with the opponent, even being better at times. Alex Kral’s shot from outside the box in the 67th minute forced Unaie Simon to intervene.
In the 76th minute, the Spaniards added an insurance goal. Pablo Sarabia, a substitute, finished off a good team effort with a shot into an empty net. Jaroslav Šilhavy’s team did not get into pressure in the end and lost 0:2.
The last two matches of the Nations League await our national team in September, after the home battle with Portugal they will face the Swiss in the battle for salvation.
