Jiri Prochazka has a UFC fight coming up in April, he’ll try to knock out Aleksandar Rakic and get close to a title shot again. In retrospect, he has now decided to tell an interesting story of how he got lost in the dark in the mountains and even suffered frostbite.
After his loss to Alex Pereira, Jiri Prochazka quickly got himself together and arranged another fight. He will face Aleksandar Rakic in mid-April and if he wins, he may very well be the next one to get a title shot.
Procházka is often an incomprehensible man, he is different from others, as his trips to the mountains or forests prove. Now on the AllStar Sport podcast he told one story. And in his words, he may not even realize how much risk he was taking.
Prochazka and his story
“I wanted to go to the mountains in Las Vegas and I found Mount Charleston. I went up there but realized I needed some better shoes and a jacket. So I went back, bought all this stuff like ski boots and a leather jacket, a Garmin watch…
But what was wrong was that I didn’t look at the map right, because the map showed me that it was just a hike for a couple of hours, maybe six hours. But after six hours of walking at high altitude, I realized I had to turn back or rush to the end.
So I just decided I could do it. It took me all of 16, 18 hours in the end. Plus, I forgot to take a light because I thought it was only going to be for six hours. Then I got lost on the mountain. It was completely dark and I was wandering around looking for a way back.
I finally got back home and the next day I found that I had a little black toe on my left foot. I had frostbite. It’s completely healed now, but it took a long time. First my toenail fell off and after about six months a new one grew in, which made me feel better balance,” he told AllStar Sport.
If anyone can do such a hike, it is the Czech samurai. Procházka is a man of steel. And he kept a clear head at that fateful moment, which may be why he is still with us.
