Before four o’clock in the morning on Sunday he celebrated his victory over Aleksandar Rakic, then he did his media duties and in the evening Jiří Procházka held a press conference with journalists from his homeland. Apart from winning the match, he spoke about his future and possible next duel.

Jiri Procházka had a fantastic weekend. He finished Aleksandar Rakic hard, won the performance of the night bonus, and earned the attention and praise of experts, rivals and the public. It almost couldn’t have been better.

In a press conference with the national media on Sunday night, the Moravian samurai revealed that he didn’t take any extra injuries from the duel: “All good. Leg and body. Only my eyelid is a bit stitched up, it was torn, but that’s all. I would like to do one, maybe two more matches this year.”

We’re getting ahead of ourselves. Because before the fight with the Austrian fighter, BJP signed a new contract with the UFC. “I think it’s an eight-fight or 40-month contract. As far as the money is concerned, the manager has shifted it somehow. Overall, I’m happy,” Prochazka let slip.

But what’s next? The former king of the welterweight division of Rizin and the UFC has already said after his cage win that he wants to fight whoever the champion is after the UFC 300 gala. Well, it remained Alex Pereira, who stopped Jamahal Hill in the first round. Whether we’ll see a rematch is uncertain. But Moravian wants it.

Jiri Prochazka talks about his plans

Alex Pereira was asked about a rematch with the BJP after the gala. It cannot be said that he is interested in it. But if the UFC wants it, he won’t turn it down. It’s worth noting, however, that he would like to fight in his home country as early as May 5, specifically in Rio de Janeiro at the UFC 301 event. He’s not opposed to fighting at heavyweight.

Jiri Prochazka admitted at the press conference that he wouldn’t be opposed to such a quick fight either. “If there’s a good offer in a shorter period of time, like Pereira, if he’s healthy, I would go for it, but he was talking about the heavyweight division. I’ve already suggested the fight to the manager and we’ll see. I’m not going to say the possibility is there, but it’s being discussed,” he expressed caution. He didn’t want it to sound like a done deal.

He doesn’t want to fight at heavyweight himself. There could be a possibility in play that he’d rather move down a weight: ” I was considering middleweight. With the way my metabolism feels, the way my body works in preparation, I know that if I adjusted my diet to where I really feel great and clean, I know I could manage 84kg with some lighter diet.”

“But I’ll deal with that after I win the 93kg title. We’ll see what comes up, what gets negotiated. I’m just going for the title, then maybe cut a middleweight. Right now, I’m purely focused on the step ahead of me, so a fight with Pereira or Ankalaev if the UFC wants to give it to me.”

However, the BJP is confident about the Brazilian. He’s confident he can get him where he needs to go. “If not finish him. But as far as his fight with Hill, I don’t give a shit what I would like, that was really beautiful on his part,” Prochazka concluded the topic.
