Problem for City: De Bruyne is likely to miss the start of next season due to injury. What did he say about his dream Champions League triumph?

Kevin De Bruyne did not play in Saturday’s Champions League final against Inter Milan and had to be substituted in the first half due to injury. Now it looks like the Belgian midfielder will miss Manchester City for several months.
For the first time in their club history, Manchester City achieved a Champions League victory when they beat Inter 1-0 at the Istanbul Stadium.
Spanish midfielder Rodri scored the only goal of the game in the 68th minute. He scored one of the most important goals of his career so far.
The Champions League final, although a winnable match, also means one negative for the Citizens. And that is the injury to Kevin De Bruyne, who has now seriously injured his thigh muscle.
“They have been telling me for two months that there is a possibility that I am at risk of injury. I’ve been struggling since the away game against Bayern. So I’ve missed quite a few games, I guess, but they’ve all been small cracks. But today I tore it all off so I wasn’t able to continue,” De Bruyne said in a post-match interview.
According to the British media, De Bruyne’s injury is of such a serious nature that the Belgian international will not only not help the national team in the Nations League, but will also probably miss the start of next season.
“I will probably have a check-up somewhere this week. I’ll be out of the national team 100 percent, I know that, which is a shame because I would have played my 100th game, ” he added.
I’ve fought my whole career for this
De Bruyne was thus replaced by Phil Foden in the 36th minute, the thirty-one-year-old Belgian at least helping his team from the sideline, where he almost shared the coaching with Pep Guardiola. However, he values winning the Champions League trophy as much as if he had played the full 90 minutes.
“I’ve basically fought my whole career to win this medal. Yet I don’t think it defines my career. I think it helps me, but I don’t judge myself or my career just based on this match. I know who I am as a footballer and a person and I am happy and proud of who I am and I am happy with who I am,” De Bruyne concluded.
