He moved to England on 1 July 2004 from Stade Rennes in France. Chelsea sent thirteen million euros to France for the then very talented former Pilsen and Sparta goalkeeper, and Cech spent the rest of his active career in London.
He wore the Chelsea jersey until the summer of 2015, before Arsenal bought him for fourteen million euros. The Czech goalkeeper protected the Gunners’ goal for four years, playing a total of 633 games in the English top flight.
Thanks to his performances and achievements in the Blues’ jersey, The Sun has placed him in second place in the aforementioned ranking!
After all – Čech has been named the best Czech footballer of the year seven times, and it was with Chelsea that he won both the Champions League and the Europa League.
In 2005, 2006, 2010 and 2015 he celebrated winning the league title, three times he won the English League Cup and five times he reached the top in the FA Cup (only once with Arsenal).
In the above post you can see the full ranking of the top ten Premier League goalkeepers. We’ll reveal straight away that Peter Schmeichel is at the very top. In the rankings we can then find names like Shay Given, David James and David de Gea.
It should be noted that The Sun did not include one notable name in the rankings. Edwin van der Sar guarded the Manchester United goal for six years, before that he had four years at Fulham.
It was in a red jersey that the former Dutch goalkeeper not only achieved four league titles, but also the overall Champions League title in 2007/08. Additionally, therefore, he can also be ranked among the goalkeepers who are among the absolute top of the Premier League.
