Preparation is the same as if Šilhavy was here, says Filip Novák
The Czech national football team will play a friendly match against Kuwait on Thursday. It will be a dress rehearsal before the clash with Estonia. Left-back Filip Novák spoke about the match against the 142nd team in the world rankings.
Jaroslav Šilhavy, who tested positive for coronavirus on Monday, will not lead the national team at the November meeting. His longtime assistant Jiří Chytrý took over the scepter from him.
“Is the preparation any specific? Coach Chytrý and Mr Šilhavý are almost in agreement, they communicate a lot. So even if the coach is not here, the preparation is exactly the same as if he were here.”
Before the last match of the World Cup qualification against Estonia, the Czech Republic will play Kuwait in Olomouc. The Asian selection has a market value of just seven million euros, a million less than the price of the Czech Budweis players.
“We have some knowledge of the team, we had quite a few haircuts. I was surprised that there were a lot of matches.”
Kuwait is definitely not going through an ideal period. It failed to make it past the second round of World Cup qualifying and has scored just two goals in its last four matches.
“Today we were focusing more on the defensive part, so we had standard situations, how they defend, where are the spaces that we should exploit. We’ve got it on video and we’ve got a training session this afternoon where we’ll try out how we should play them.”
Novak and Co. will obviously be the favorites and motivated by the fact that this is their second to last home game of the year, they will go for the win. The game starts at 18:30.
