Premier League Rescue Racing: Unreadable Wolverhampton must find a killer fast
The March national break is over and with it our series is slowly coming to an end. This time we look at Wolverhampton, who are three points above the relegation zone with a line-up full of question marks.

Wolves are embroiled in a fight for survival with an unproductive attack, which has been their hallmark in previous seasons. This year, however, the defence hasn’t been as good, with Connor Coady’s departure affecting the club more than expected.
An unreadable lineup
Probably no one in the league has such an erratic roster. The Wolves have great players, especially Ruben Neves, who is the center of attention for bigger clubs. It’s just that the rest of the roster is an advertisement for inconsistent performances.
Both Daniel Podence and Adama Traoré impress with their speed, but are tragic in the end. The defence can play, but shortcuts are the order of the week, as the last round at home to Leeds (2: 4) perfectly documents.
Goalscorer = save
While in the past Wolves have stood on the goals of Raul Jimenez, due to the Mexican’s protracted injuries they have been playing essentially without a starter for the last few months. And it’s showing. The team lacks the killer that, for example, got Brentford and Fulham out of the fight for survival.
The bet on Diego Costa hasn’t paid off yet, Matheus Cunha hasn’t kept up his performance and Jimenez still hasn’t recovered from a long injury. The head coach needs to find a number one that he feels confident in. Constant rotation benefits no one.
The plan for the rest of the season
The team’s aforementioned problems suggest that it will be a fight for survival in the remaining rounds. But if a quality scorer is brought in this summer and Podence and Adama work on their productivity, the Wolves can attack the top 10 next season.
Wolverhampton still have Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United to face from the big three before the end of the season. Of the competition in the fight for survival, they will welcome Everton and Crystal Palace, away to Leicester and Nottingham.
