Postecoglou exploded at press conference after Chelsea defeat, Pochettino praised players
Tottenham lost the London derby to Chelsea 0:2. Even during the match, it was obvious that the visitors’ coach Ange Postecoglou was not satisfied with the performance of his charges. The Australian didn’t spare any critical words at the post-match press conference.
Tottenham lost the London derby to Chelsea 0:2. Even during the match, it was obvious that the visitors’ coach Ange Postecoglou was not satisfied with the performance of his charges. The Australian didn’t spare any critical words at the post-match press conference.
Tottenham had no movement
The main problem Spurs were struggling with was probably noticed by every viewer at the TV screens. Tottenham’s players lacked sufficient supply throughout the game. The player with the ball on the ball usually had only one option where to send the ball.
Even during the 1st half, Postecoglou was beside himself with what his charges were doing. Bissouma and Sarr got the biggest shower as they were invisible in the midfield and didn’t help their players with their movement.
The invisible Son
Brazilian Richarlison returned to Tottenham’s lineup, which caused the return of Heung-Min Son to the left edge of midfield. In the last few games, the Korean had been starting at the tip of the attack and it wasn’t the same, fans thought his performances would pick up once he returned to the edge of the pitch.
However, here we have to commend the Chelsea players. Whenever Sono made any contact with the ball, the player was brought down in time and had no chance to get a finish. The question may be whether Son was missing James Maddison, who was only left on the bench and Dejan Kulusevski played in his position.
Postgame press conference
“We were awfully far away from Chelsea with our performance, it goes to my credit. But come on mate, we didn’t play well at all,” began the Tottenham coach’s post-match interview. Those who saw the game must have known that the post-match press conference was not going to be commendable from the Australian.
But that was not all, in the next sentence you could hear a slight frustration: ‘What do you want from me? Do you want me to write a documentation since the match didn’t go as expected? We were just bad,” Postecoglou added.
” Madueke was great, just unstoppable. He played great with and without the ball. Trevoh Chalobah and Conor Gallagher were also great,” Pochettino praised the players.
