Tuesday’s Champions League programme will feature a match between RB Leipzig and Manchester City and Porto and Inter Milan. The Italian side will arrive in Portugal with a one-goal lead, what to expect from the rematch?
Porto are very good, they have won 12 of their last 14 matches in all competitions. In the table, it is not only the sovereign Benfica Lisbon that is going for the title, Porto is two points ahead of Sporting in second place.
Inter are not doing as well as expected, winning only three of their last six games, plus losses to Bologna and Spezia. It continues to finish second in the table, but has only a three-point lead on fifth place.
Porto’s key figures
The visitors are led by productive striker Mehdi Taremi, the Iranian powerhouse has scored 22 goals and assisted on 12. Canadian international Stephen Eustaquio commands the centre of midfield, scoring seven times and assisting six.
Inter’s key figures
He will be 37 years old in a week, yet Edin Džeko is dragging Inter along. He has 11 shots and five assists. Teammate and Argentine international Lautaro Martinez has scored 17 goals and assisted seven times.
Porto relies on a solid defensive unit led by the ageless Pep, with 17 goals scored, second best in the league after Benfica. It has scored more than once in only two of its last 19 games.
That is not at all suited to Inter, which has failed to return to its scoring form since the World Cup in Qatar. It has scored only nine times in the past eight games, coming up completely empty in two of them.
Considering Porto’s good defensive form and Inter’s struggling attack, I expect the game to be broken in the second half. The home side need one goal to go into extra time, the visitors have nowhere to go. That’s why I recommend betting on a draw at half time or at the end of the game.
