A big scandal happened during the Slovak top league match between Spartak Trnava and Slovan Bratislava. In the 14th minute of the match, fans invaded the pitch and immediately started a fight. Police have now charged 11 people, who face up to three years in prison.
It all took place on 17 October this year in Trnava. Slovan Bratislava came here for a match of the top Slovak league, which promised an interesting football spectacle.
But it didn’t happen. And it was the fault of the fans who came to the match just to settle their accounts.
Right from the start of the match, the fans threw pyrotechnics on the pitch and everything escalated in the 14th minute when they even invaded the pitch. And that’s where they started to settle their scores. This was not enough for the organizing service and the riot police had to intervene and calmed down both rival camps.
The whole situation has now been dealt with by the Slovak police.
“The police have secured the necessary camera footage and identified the persons. The persons were part of a fight that broke out on the area, throwing pyrotechnics on the area and the stands. Eleven persons have been charged with the offence of rioting by abetment. Thepersons are being prosecuted at large,” the police statement said.
The match, of course, was not played. The disciplinary committee then fined both clubs heavily. In addition, Trnava will have to play three matches in front of empty stands and, on the other hand, Slovan fans will not be able to travel to the next four away matches.
