Motorsport fans can be really excited this weekend. For in addition to the British Grand Prix, the Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix is also on the schedule.
Saturday’s action at Silverstone started with eleven drivers yet to qualify for the main event. Jake Dixon earned the wildcard for this race weekend, but he was unable to get a good result and finished last.
Miguel Oliveira also had a tragic race, as he and his KTM motorcycle set a time as low as tenth and will start Sunday’s race from the last row, in 20th place. In the previous race, Cal Crutchlow was given the place of Franco Morbidelli, racing alongside Valentino Rossi.
Lorenzo Savadori will also not start the race due to health problems. The Aprilia Racing rider is still not ready and 100% fit after his leg injury.
Now he has even been given the opportunity to ride for the Monster Energy Yamaha Moto GP factory team, replacing Maverick Viñales, who finally parted ways with the team before this weekend. However, he has not been able to repay the trust so far, as he set the third worst time of the entire starting field in qualifying.
His teammate, however, did well. Fabio Quartararo managed to set the third fastest time despite crashing in the second practice session! Only Francesco Bagnaia and Pol Espargaro will be ahead of him at the start.
Jorge Martin, who is currently with Pramac Racing, was very close to his third pole position in a row. However, he cut short at turn eight and his fastest attempt was subsequently wiped out by the sports commissioners.
Fifth place at the start went to Marc Márquez, who like Quartararo also crashed. However, in the first practice session, which, it should be noted, he dominated despite the fall. However, he will start Sunday’s race from fifth place.
A decent result for Valentino Rossi. The legendary rider is not doing too well in the current season, so eighth place is quite a good result. But let’s take a look at the full starting field for the British Grand Prix.
1. Pol Espargaro, 2nd Francesco Bagnaia, 3rd Fabio Quartararo, 4th Jorge Martin, 5th Marc Márquez, 6th Aleix Espargaro, 7th Jack Miller, 8th Valentino Rossi, 9th Johann Zarco and Alex Rins rounds out the top ten.
11. Joan Mir, 12. Brad Binder, 13. Enea Bastianini, 14. Luca Marini, 15. Takaaki Nakagami, 16. Danilo Petrucci, 17. Alex Márquez, 18. Iker Lecuona, 19. Cal Crutchlow, 20. Miguel Oliveira and Jake Dixon will start from last place.
