Doping penalty
It’s been a year and a quarter since Pogba hopped on the pitch for his last competitive game for Juventus. It happened on 9 March in 2023, he played exactly 28 minutes then and that was the end of his football career, at least for now. Whether he will ever play at the highest level again is questionable. He will be 34 years old when his sentence is over.
Pogba tested positive for DHEA, which translates to testosterone. The Anti-Doping Authority has given him the maximum penalty of four years. Interestingly, he is under contract at Juventus until 2026 and his sentence ends in 2027.
Excerpt from the interview
The Frenchman used these words in the interview, ” You know, Paul Pogba is dead, he doesn’t exist anymore. ”
Various edited videos and other posts with sad context are currently circulating the internet. Most people think Pogba is talking about his career and his words are experiencing a real boom.
On the social network TikTok, the audio with Pogba’s words is really popular. However, 9 months ago, when the interview came out, the Frenchman’s words were not this popular, hardly anyone even knew about the interview.
What Pogba said in an interview with Al Jazeera English
The interview was conducted by Iman Amrani, who asked Pogba if he was ever satisfied during his career and stopped working on himself. The Frenchman mentioned Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who won a lot of trophies and were never satisfied, allegedly he was the same as them.
During the next phase, he got as far as mentioning fans who can forget about a footballer from one day to the next. “You can do something good, but the next day you are nobody. They will start to say that you are no longer at the highest level”, the French midfielder mentioned.
In sentences that revolved around the fans and their demands, the Frenchman mentioned the aforementioned phrase. In no way was he describing his career or ending it, he was purely describing what fans are able to say or write on social networks. Whether Pogba’s career will continue or end with a doping penalty, we will know in the years to come.
