The great Juventus fan favourite is home again! Paul Pogba is back after a failed six-year campaign at Manchester United, where he grew into one of the best midfielders in the world. And upon landing in Turin, the fans’ excitement was evident!
The only league titles the French midfielder achieved were those won during his first stint in the black and white jersey. From 2013 until 2016, he lifted 4 Serie A winners’ trophies over his head.
After that, Manchester United made him the most expensive player in the world when they sent €105 million to Turin for him. However, over the next 6 years, Pogba only won the Europa League and the League Cup twice with the Red Devils.
Thus, during his time at Old Trafford, he did not achieve what his potential destined him to do. Let his reward be at least a World Cup win in 2018. Moreover, he and his teammates can defend it at the end of this year in Qatar and start a new era.
As Pogba himself has said several times, he feels comfortable in Turin and the newly built team under coach Massimiliano Allegri looks very interesting. If everything falls into place, an assault on the league title and maybe even success in the Champions League can be expected.
Moreover, the French midfielder will fit in well at Juventus when the team lacks a top creative midfielder, while we would find a great deal of defensive players to complement Pogba.
However, there is one small change compared to his previous stint in Turin. Previously, the French midfielder used to play alongside great players like Vidal, Pirlo and Marchisio who passed on their experience to him.
Now, after a few years, it will be him who should manage the midfield line and pass on his experience to players like Locatelli, Zakaria, McKennie and Arthur.
But one thing is for sure, with the arrival of Di Maria and Pogba, Juventus will rise in quality and will be a much bigger competitor to both Milan sides than they were last season. Perhaps in the end, Allegri’s charges will lift the league trophy above their heads for the first time since the 2019/20 season.
