Juventus Torino footballer Paul Pogba is not having a happy time. Last year, due to a series of injuries, he almost didn’t play, and for the same reason he missed the start of the new edition of the Italian top flight.
In the upcoming two matches against Bologna and Empoli, he has already taken the field, but in both cases he has not even played half an hour. In the first match against Udinese he sat only on the bench, but he was still selected for an anti-doping test.
And a few dozen hours ago, it was revealed that Pogba failed the test. According to Italian agency ANSA, the French midfielder tested positive for testosterone.
Juventus thus suspended Pogba at the request of the anti-doping court. As a result, the 30-year-old central midfielder now receives only the minimum wage, i.e. approximately two thousand euros per month.
In any case, as reported by Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport, Pogba has appealed against the test results and requested a counter-analysis.
The second test was originally due to take place on 20 September, but the date has been changed to 5 October. This is due to the unavailability of the player’s consultant on the original date. And if that one is also positive, the case will again be examined by the anti-doping tribunal. However, Pogba would not only face the termination of his contract with Juventus.
In the case of doping, the anti-doping courts are ruthless. Pogba could be banned from football for up to two years, but the punishment could stretch to four years if it is proven that the athlete doped intentionally.
So Juventus cannot be at all happy with Pogba’s return for now. The Frenchman is the highest paid player in Serie A, but the club’s management has already started discussing a pay cut with the player in recent times.
Needless to say, he has only played a total of 200 minutes in a year and missed 54 games. Now he is also facing doping charges.
