Will Paul Pogba take a pay cut? Following Italian media reports, Juventus technical director Cristiano Giuntoli plans to meet with the French international to discuss the possibility of a pay cut with him and his agent. The reason for this is his frequent injuries.

Juventus played their third league game of the season on Sunday, in which they took full points for a 2-0 win. Danilo opened the scoring in the 24th minute and fifteen minutes later Dusan Vlahovic missed a penalty.

However, the Bianconeri did not have to regret it. Federico Chiesa added a second goal in the 82nd minute to secure victory for his team. Juventus did, however, leave the Empoli stadium with one negative record.

Paul Pogba was injured in the 62nd minute. The coach of the Turin club Massimiliano Allegri had to make a substitution, the 30-year-old Frenchman was replaced by the young Fabio Miretti.

It is currently thought to be a minor muscle injury. It should be noted, however, that since Pogba returned to Juventus (last July, for the 2022/23 season – ed.) he has already been on the injured list seven times.

Last season, he only played 10 competitive games, missing 53 of them due to absences. And this, of course, leads the club to think about the financial terms of the French international.

Salary reduction, new conditions

Juventus’ technical director Cristiano Giuntoli is thus understandably planning a meeting with the star footballer and his agent Rafaela Pimenta in the very near future.

Under his current contract, which according to Transfermarkt expires at the end of June 2026, Pogba will earn around eight million euros in fixed fees. And as the Capology website confirms, even with bonuses, the Lagny-sur-Marne native earns over ten million euros a year.

Italian newspapers Calciomercato and Tuttosport report that the most realistic alternative is to reduce the fixed part of his salary and reach €8 million per season through performance-related bonuses.

In any case, we will have to wait for more information. The question also remains whether Pogba will hit the field against Lazio. That is not scheduled until 16 September.
