Pochettino has the recipe for success! PSG must combine Mbappé’s talents with Messi and Neymar, he says
Mauricio Pochettino certainly has no easy task at all when he has to turn a number of football’s biggest stars into a functioning team that can fulfil their potential. But it seems he has already found the recipe.
Mauricio Pochettino certainly has no easy task at all when he has to turn a number of football’s biggest stars into a functioning team that can fulfil their potential. However, it seems he has already found the recipe.
An avalanche of criticism descended on the Parisian side after they only drew 1-1 after their opening Champions League match against Brugge. Pochettino reacted to the criticism after the game by saying that he needs time to make a team out of outstanding players.
But time is something that is really scarce at PSG. However, the Argentine coach is not doing badly at all so far. In Ligue 1, the Parisian side is clearly leading the table without a loss and no big conclusions can be drawn from one small hesitation with Brugge yet.
On Wednesday night, however, PSG have to prepare for their next opponent, which this time will be Méty, who are currently still in last place without a league win.
“It’s true that against Lyon we switched from a 4-3-3 to a 4-2-3-1 system. I still have unresolved questions about positions and the organisation of the game, but that will take some time,” Pochettino said ahead of Wednesday’s game.
“We are at a point where we need to combine the talent of Kylian Mbappé with, for example, the relationship that Messi and di María have with each other or Messi and Neymar, who know each other well,” the Argentine coach is aware of the fact that if all three play well, everything will run like a Swiss watch.
A 4-2-3-1 formation with Neymar, Messi, Di Maria and Mbappé in the attacking four is really exciting for any coach. But logically, working together may not work right away and the management of the Parisian team expects quick results.
In addition, there was bad news, as Messi dropped out due to a knee injury and so the good old trio of Neymar – Mbappé – di María will probably be playing again on Wednesday.
The weekend after that, Paris will welcome Montpellier and three days later Manchester City.
