Mauricio Pochettino led PSG to the league title last season, but that was the only success of the rich team under his leadership. So he was sacked and replaced. There was talk among fans that he was sacked by Kylian Mbappé. However, the Argentine coach does not believe these rumours.

After his time at Tottenham, he moved to PSG. There were high expectations for him. All the more so when the French side brought in Lionel Messi. But it wasn’t fulfilled. The Parisians won only the league, failed in the cup and the Champions League.

So Pochettino was sacked. Before that, however, the club managed to win another important battle. Kylian Mbappé signed a new contract, the details of which we probably won’t know for some time. The French footballer is supposed to have a big say in building the team or choosing the coach.

When the Argentine was sacked, the fans had fun blaming Mbappé. Pochettino, however, doesn’t think the star footballer is to blame. Before that, however, he pointed out how good it was for PSG to keep Mbappé.

“PSG did everything to keep Kylian and I totally agree with that. He is one of the best footballers of today and PSG had all the resources to convince him to stay. Anyway, I don’t think he is the one behind the new project and my departure,” he told Argentine media outlet Infobae.

According to Pochettino, PSG is simply ruled by the club president, who decides what is best for the project.

Messi is the best, I am grateful for my time with him, says Pochettino

Pochettino feels no bitterness after his end at PSG. On the contrary. He appreciates the opportunity and believes his time in France was positive. He has gained new experiences and wants to use them in his next engagement.

The question is whether he will ever again be able to work with the kind of players he met in Paris. The Argentine made no secret of the fact that he enjoyed his time with his compatriot Lionel Messi: “He is the best in the world for me. Without a doubt. He’s in a great physical condition. He has the energy and the ability to lead Argentina at the World Cup. I’m happy to have spent so many moments with him.”

Apart from that, however, Pochettino also praised Neymar, whom he also ranks among the best footballers on the planet. He then referred to Mbappé as a future Ballon d’Or winner.
