After a great fight, Karolina Pliskova walked away with her first win at the Champions Tournament. But in her post-match interview, she admitted that she struggled a lot in the training sessions before the match.

Karolina Pliskova had a very exciting match. After an unsuccessful first set, she managed to turn around her match with Garbiñe Muguruza and came back to win 2:1 in sets.

Pliskova admitted after the match that she struggled a lot in training. “For what I did here in practice, this was very good,” said the Czech tennis player.

According to her words, Pliskova took a long time to get used to the specific conditions in Guadalajara, Mexico, and became depressed in training.

“When I don’t do well in practice, I get upset, but in a match I have a different setting. Most of the time I play with what I have, I try to fight and somehow find a way,” Pliskova said.

In the match itself, Pliskova dealt with the conditions well. The first set didn’t go well for the Czech player, but then she made a great turnaround. She dominated the second set 6:2 and won the dramatic third set in a tie break.

Pliskova celebrates her first win at this year’s Champions Tournament. However, it took a lot of her strength.

“I feel exhausted. But I would say it’s more mental fatigue that got to me because it was a tough match. Physically I’m fine, I’ve trained enough, I’m not worried about that. I will be fine,” believes Pliskova.
