Pi*o, it’s over in that Sparta! Czech TV commentator assesses the relegation of Letná
Spartan fans have to bite another bitter disappointment. Their beloved club was eliminated in the second round of the Conference League and will not play in the European Cups in the 2022/23 season. And Luděk Zelenka, a commentator for Czech Television, also gave a peculiar assessment.
Spartan fans have to bite another bitter disappointment. Their beloved club was eliminated in the second round of the Conference League and will not play in the European Cups in the 2022/23 season. And Luděk Zelenka, a commentator for Czech Television, also gave a peculiar assessment.
When Sparta got Viking Stavanger in the second round of the Conference League, many people cheered. The fourth team in the Norwegian league should be easily eliminated, it seemed.
But then came another huge collapse. After a goalless draw at home, Sparta went to Norway knowing they had to win. And it looked promising when Zelený opened the scoring in the 43rd minute.
However, the home side equalised just two minutes later and it was clear that Sparta’s players were affected by the change of sides. They couldn’t get into a good chance, they didn’t put any pressure on their opponents.
And in the second minute of the setup a small disaster came. Captain Dávid Hancko fumbled, a little home pass to Holc was just directed into the run of a Viking striker who passed the ball to a teammate and it was all over.
After the end of the match, criticism logically poured in on Sparta from all sides. And even in the studio of Czech TV.
When reporter David Kozohorský handed over the floor to David Kalous, the Czech TV expert Luděk Zelenka could be heard saying
Sparta is constantly spinning in a circle of failure from which there is no way out. And while many believed that Danish coach Brian Priske would be the one to pull Sparta out of the rut, he failed at the first possible opportunity.
