The most talked about moment from the UFC 282 tournament is the win of favorite Paddy Pimblett over Jared Gordon. Although the vast majority of fans and media saw the American winning, the Briton rejoiced and had no doubts about his victory.
The most talked about moment from the UFC 282 tournament is the win of favorite Paddy Pimblett over Jared Gordon. Although the vast majority of fans and media saw the American winning, the Briton rejoiced and had no doubts about his victory.
A very controversial moment was seen at the recent UFC 282 tournament. Paddy Pimblett surprisingly won on points over Jared Gordon.
The big fan favourite is undefeated in the UFC so far, but speculation is rife from all sides as to whether it was a set up. After all, the UFC needs to build his popularity.
Pimblett ended up winning 3-0, a win none of the judges saw his opponent win, unlike the rest of the combat sports world. What did the Liverpool fighter himself have to say?
“It wasn’t even close. For the record, Joe, did you even discuss with my manager how much I’m getting for this interview? I don’t think it was close at all. I won the first two rounds. I kind of blew it in the third one and just passed.
I knew I had those two rounds in the bag. So I didn’t want to take any unnecessary risks. It would have been pointless. I had the first two laps clearly and easily to myself. I knew it was going to be a tough fight. Gordon is fucking good and tough. He’s a tough guy.
He’s had some ugly things happen to him and he’s still managed to come back to this level. Hats off to him. I’d like to work with Gordon now because I have charity plans, so we could combine somehow. We’ll see what happens next.
I have to admit, my foot was bad in that first round. It hurt, so I’ll have to check it out. But I’ll be back soon, of course. I’ll prove to you again that I’m no hype train,” the Englishman responded after the fight.
Gordon did not hide his annoyance after the match and even tweeted that he was robbed. Holt’s referees are perhaps the biggest sticking point in MMA.
