Pimblett and a win? I’m losing faith in the sport, says the UFC fighter. One of the biggest thefts ever, nods MMA stars and journalists

Paddy Pimblett is undoubtedly a quality fighter. His demeanor, lifestyle and overall personality has won him a large fan base. The UFC boss himself compares him to Conor McGregor. However, at UFC 282, Pimblett was supposed to lose for the first time in the best organization in the world, but it didn’t happen. The reactions seem to be accordingly.

There has been a huge buzz around the Liverpool patriot since his arrival in the UFC. And rightfully so. This is a quality fighter with intriguing potential. Particularly a marketing one, which the organization is capitalizing on as much as it can.

He went into UFC 282 with three straight wins in the organization. He hasn’t been beaten in it yet, however, he faced his biggest challenge yet in Jared Gordon, who prepared well for the fight.

Gordon looked the better fighter in all three rounds. For the first two five minutes Paddy Pimblett cashed in a lot in the stand up, when it came to the third round the Englishman was expected to have to finish the American to win.

This was the scenario that Gordon was counting on, and he guarded a quiet victory with some quality wrestling on the canvas that Pimblett could find no recipe for.

When time ran out, Pimblett held his hands up. Gordon could only wonder, he still thought he was the winner. After all, so were most of the spectators. But it took some time for the scoring judges to agree on a winner. Then when the announcement was made, the Englishman was the winner.

Dana White’s favorite won 29-28 according to the judges. Neither judge saw Gordon win.

The result sparked a negative reaction

Not surprisingly, harsh criticism of the judges and the UFC as a whole began immediately. Even Jared Gordon himself had his say, admitting that he felt robbed. However, he refuses to cry over spilt milk and instead seems determined.

Interestingly, all the fighters, coaches and journalists who commented on the fight agree. For example, top MMA journalist Ariel Helwani said the fight was a 29-28 win for Gordon at worst.

However, it is worth noting that it was Helwani who was recently criticized unkindly and unjustifiably by Paddy Pimblett in Dana White’s studio, for which he subsequently took quite a beating on social media.

Among other things, Helwani admitted that he sees this result as one of the worst in UFC history. And he’s clearly not alone.

UFC fighter Brian Kelleher revealed after the English star’s win that he has lost faith in MMA.

Jiri Prochazka’s coach Martin Karaivanov gave a rather negative assessment of the judges at the tournament. “They didn’t have their day.”
