Viktoria Plzeň plays the first match of the Champions League group stage in Barcelona, where it was a big underdog. However, they created chances in the first half and were even awarded a penalty kick! However, it was subsequently cancelled by VAR.

Viktoria Plzen entered the match with Barcelona boldly, there were chances from the counter-attack, but the speed was on the side of the home team, who did not allow the offensive players to shoot.

In the 13th minute, however, the Westerners were already losing, the first goal of the match was scored by the summer addition to the midfield – Franck Kessié. He was able to increase the score shortly afterwards.

After less than half an hour of play, however, Plzeň almost rejoiced. Jhon Mosquera eluded the defending Andreas Christensen, who pulled him to the ground and the referee awarded a penalty kick.

Both players remained on the ground and the referee even held the red card, giving Viktoria a great hope for a good result. But then VAR came into play.

The referee ran to the screen to take a look and after repeated shots it was clear that the penalty would be overturned. Mosquera elbowed the Danish stopper hard on the head.

Not only was there no penalty kick and no red card, but the Colombian winger also earned a yellow card for his nasty foul. Given the intensity, he can still be glad for it.
