On Wednesday, the third edition of the AGEL Open will feature the eight final matches. One of them will be a duel between the local Petra Kvitova and Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa. Will the native of Bílovec confirm her role as the paper favourite and will she enjoy the victory?

Petra Kvitova celebrated her 32nd birthday in March this year. The two-time Wimbledon winner is currently ranked 20th in the WTA rankings. In October 2011, however, she was ranked second.

At the beginning of the 2022 calendar year, she was not doing too well, but that changed with the transition to the grass part of the season. The Czech player celebrated her triumph at Eastbourne, and she reached the third round at Wimbledon.

She also had a very good result in Cincinnati, where she scored scalps against Jabeur, Tomljanovic and Keys. In the final, however, she did not find a recipe for the Frenchwoman Garcia, whom she lost to after 2::6 and 4::6.

Her opponent on Wednesday will be twenty-four-year-old Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa. She is currently ranked fourth in the WTA rankings, which makes her the number two seed in Ostrava.

Although she is not in ideal form at the moment, she is still a very good player. She confirmed this at the events in Indian Wells and Miami, where she reached the semi-finals and quarter-finals. At these tournaments, she also scored three scalps of Czech tennis players (Martincova, Bouzkova and Fruhvirtova).

Petra Kvitová, who has already tasted the local conditions in her match with Peraová, will enter Wednesday’s match as a paper favourite. However, she didn’t perform well there and was already down 0:2 in the deciding set. It is therefore expected that Badosa could follow up her match in July (7::5 and 7::6) and win at least one set.
