Czech tennis player Petra Kvitová improved significantly in the WTA rankings thanks to a successful week. In the updated edition she is ranked 21st, which also means that she is the Czech number one.
Petra Kvitová shone at the tournament in Cincinnati, where she reached the final. She lost to Caroline Garcia, but still gained a large number of points in the WTA ranking.
This success earned her an upgrade of seven ranking places. Now Petra Kvitová is ranked 21st and now also holds the title of the Czech top-ranked tennis player.
She was also helped by the fall of Karolina Pliskova, who dropped from 17th to 22nd place. Barbora Krejčíková also dropped out of the top ten and is now just behind Plíšková in the WTA rankings.
However, the other Czech tennis players in the top 100 of the overall rankings have seen a ranking shift. It is worth mentioning, for example, Bouzkova’s move up five places to 41st or Markéta Vondroušová’s current 47th position. There are three more Czech representatives in the top 100 – Martinsova, Siniakova and Noskova.
As far as the top places are concerned, they have not changed in any way. The ranking is still dominated by Poland’s Šwiateková with a very comfortable lead of 4025 points. So it is not expected that there will be any change in the position of the world leader in the coming weeks.
In second place is Kontaveit, who is about 400 points ahead of Sakkari in third. These two tennis players are further pushed by Badosa and Dzhabur, who are separated by only 60 points.
