Portuguese daily Sport Lisboa e Benfica has officially announced the transfer of Petar Musa from Boavista Porto. The player has signed a 5-year contract with the famous Portuguese club until 2027.
The 24-year-old Croatian striker had a successful season at another Portuguese premier league club Boavista Porto. He left there in August 2021 on loan from Slavia Prague. The season before that, however, he was also a guest at Germany’s Union Berlin.
In Boavista this season, he managed to score 11 goals in 27 league games, making him the team’s top scorer. Boavista finished 12th in this year’s Portuguese league and had no major problems with their salvation despite financial problems.
In order for Boavista to acquire Petar from Slavia on a permanent transfer, they first had to activate a compulsory buyout. This came into effect after the club had achieved ten league goals and, according to the transfermarkt, amounted to €3 million.
Thus, Slavia also lost the money for the player’s annual guest appearance (250 thousand Eur), which amounted to almost 100 million crowns. However, it is not excluded that he has additional percentages from the resale in his contract.
According to the tranfermarkt, Benfica Lisbon paid €5 million to Boavista. The market value of the player is set at €4 million.
In the Czech league, Musa has also been on loan at Slovan Liberec and Viktoria Žižkov. He first joined Slavia in May 2017 from Croatian side NK Zagreb.
His performances also brought him to the Croatian national team. He has played 11 qualifying matches for the U21 team, in which he scored 4 goals.
