Peru vs. Uruguay: Preview and betting tips
Uruguay have an important World Cup qualifying match against Peru on Friday. Both teams need three points like salt, who will do better and will Luis Suárez and co. confirm their role as favourites?
Uruguay have an important World Cup qualifying match against Peru on Friday. Both teams need three points like salt, who will do better and will Luis Suárez and co. confirm their role as favourites?
Peru are not doing well in qualifying so far, with only four points after six games. On the other hand, it is only four points behind fifth place, which guarantees the barrier.
Even Uruguay was expected to do better, having unnecessarily lost points to Paraguay, Venezuela and Ecuador, and with eight points they are just about in the top four. They are just two points behind seventh place.
Peru relies on goals from Gianluca Lapadula, who scored four goals and assisted once at the Copa America. André Carrillo is also a mainstay, with the speedy winger flashing a 2+2 record at the tournament.
Uruguay’s stars need not be mentioned for long. The legendary duo of Edinson Cavani, Luis Suarez are in the attack, Federico Valverde is in the midfield and Diego Godín and José Maria Gimenez are in the defence.
Peru has a problem in defence, having conceded at least two goals in four of their last six games.
Uruguay’s attack is unexpectedly poor, scoring more than one goal in only one of their last eight games.
Given the dysfunctional home defence, I think Uruguay will win.
