Peru drew in Paraguay to open the qualifiers, confirming their poor form. It has won only one of its last six matches, most disappointingly losing on penalties to Australia on penalties to qualify for the World Cup.
Brazil is taking qualification for the tournament for granted. It has certainly not been in 100% form since the World Cup, but it still beat Bolivia 5-1 in the opening round of qualifying. The desire to dominate the tournament after many years is great.
Key figures Peru
Christofer Gonzalez has made a good start to the season, scoring and assisting once in the three rounds of the Saudi Arabian league. Spiked striker Álex Valera has netted 13 goals and assisted two in 23 Peruvian league games.
Brazil’s key figures
Despite a surprise transfer to Saudi Arabia for some, Neymar remains in fine form, netting two goals for Bolivia on Saturday. Gabriel Magalhaes, Arsenal’s defensive mainstay, is also making his way into the national team.
Peru’s attack is not working at all, scoring more than once in only one of their last 11 games. Specifically, it has held a 0.66 goals per game average since the end of January 2021, only managing to strike twice against Paraguay last year.
Brazil, on the other hand, is a goal factory, having struck more than once in four of their last six matches. The coaching staff regularly has a wide assortment of offensive stars, for example Gabriel Martinelli did not get on the field at all on Saturday.
Considering Brazil’s offensive quality, Peru’s offensive woes, and the fact that the home team is missing two injured mainstays with a nose for goals, I think the Canaries will win away and score at least two goals.
Betting tip l Brazil win and score at least two goals
