Perfect return to the UFC! Pudilova won the second round after a dominant performance. Watch how she finished her opponent
When Lucie Pudilova ended up in the UFC, Czech MMA fans doubted her. Overall, she became a kind of black sheep. Even her wins in the Octagon didn’t change much. However, she fought her way back to the top of the world and got a chance to show she was up to the task on the main card of UFC 278. How did she do?

Lucie Pudilova was, and still is, the first and only Czech to ever make it to the UFC. She had her first fight in March 2017. She left the best organization in the world with a negative record of 2:5.
She eventually signed with the Octagon. She won five out of six fights in the Czechoslovakian organization and fought her way back to the top of the world. This is also thanks to a change in the coaching team, as she is led by John Kavanagh, trainer of, for example, Conor McGregor.
Already on Sunday, she featured on the main card of UFC 278. You could say that Pudilova got the easiest possible opponent. That was Wu Yanan, who went into the bout with three straight losses on her record.
And in the fight, the difference in the mental setup was evident. Pudilova entered the match brilliantly and managed to keep her opponent down for most of the first round. She didn’t throw as many punches, but she was clearly in control.
The second round was much more lively and that’s where the fight was stopped. The fight was staged for a while, however, once Pudilova got Yanan to the ground, you could tell she was confident. In fact, she gradually dismantled her opponent until she knocked her down with hard elbow strikes.
Pudilova thus notched her 14th career win and only the fifth time she has not won on points. Anyway, a great comeback, hopefully the Czech fighter can build on it.
