Paul Pogba is back! The French midfielder took the field on Tuesday after 315 days. And it must be said that it was a truly spectacular return, as the scoreboard showed a 2-2 scoreline when he arrived on the pitch. Juventus, however, eventually beat their city rivals 4-2 with two more goals.
Paul Pogba is back! The French midfielder took the field on Tuesday after 315 days. And it was a spectacular return indeed, as the scoreboard showed a 2-2 draw when he arrived on the pitch. Juventus, however, eventually defeated their city rivals 4-2 with two more goals.
In hindsight, Pogba’s last appearance was on April 19, 2022, when Manchester United visited Anfield and came away with a 4: 0 drubbing. Pogba was replaced by Jesse Lingard in the 11th minute.
Both Pogba and Lingard have since left Manchester United, just at a time when the Red Devils are starting to do so well. However, for both midfielders, their time at Old Trafford is most likely already a definite thing of the past.
The once most expensive player in the world now wants to focus primarily on Juventus, who are once again struggling as they have been deducted 15 points.
However, the Old Lady is 10 points behind 4th place Lazio, which is certainly still achievable, even more so if they maintain this form. This is the 4th league win in a row for the Turin side.
However, there is another path to the Champions League for Juventus. In the first round of the play-offs, they played Nantes and now they have to face Freiburg in the eighth round. However, in this competition there are two English giants, Arsenal and Manchester United. In the Europa League we can also find Sevilla and Mourinho’s AS Roma.
We may well see a spicy Pogba vs. Manchester United duel, which would be a clearly exciting spectacle. After all, remember how the French midfielder refused to witness Manchester City’s league title celebrations in the spring of 2018 and kick-started the turnaround with two goals.
The 2018 world champion is a brilliant footballer and if he can get fit again, Juventus will be much stronger with him on the pitch.
