The Bundesliga simply suits Schick. And Leverkusen, too. Already during his loan spell at Leipzig, where he scored 10 goals, he showed that offensive German football suits him. And his move to Bayer only confirmed that.
Last season, the Czech goalscorer scored 13 goals, and he also benefited from his form at the Euros, where he scored five goals to fall just one assist behind Cristiano Ronaldo in the King of Scorers.
He followed up his successful championship last season. In the Bundesliga he scored 24 goals in 27 games and added 3 assists. He became the league’s second top scorer, with only the elusive Lewandowski scoring more goals. He left behind the sensations of Dortmund and Leipzig, Haaland and Nkunku.
Logically, there was a lot of interest in his services from all sides, Bayern Munich was very interested, there was also talk of PSG. However, Schick remains loyal to Leverkusen, who he took to the Champions League.
“Hello fans, I’m in Prague right now, I’m out of surgery and everything is going well. I just wanted to say hello and tell you that… Simon (Rolfes, sporting director) is here with me and I have extended my contract until 2027. I am really happy to continue at Bayer,” Schick told the fans in a video.
He will play with Adam Hložek, whose transfer to Leverkusen is now being finalised. For the first time in a long time we will be able to see two Czechs in one foreign team playing in the Champions League.
