The game itself was a showcase of great action, but also mistakes on both sides. The first quarter didn’t offer much of interest. The second quarter was evenly matched. But the zeroes in the score didn’t last long. the 49ers took a 3-0 lead on a field goal. By the end of the quarter, they added an extra point touchdown to make the score 10 to 0. The Chiefs still managed to cut the gap to seven points and there was no time for more action in the first half.

The Chiefs started the second half much better. In the third quarter they managed to grab 10 points and after 45 minutes of the game the defending champions led 13: 10. Then came the incredible end of the game, in which 15 points were scored. With 5 seconds left, the 49ers led 19:16, but the Chiefs got a field goal to send the game into overtime.

The 49ers entered overtime fairly well, but only got a field goal out of their offensive phase and then it was Patrick Mahomes time. The Kansas City star ran for 27 yards at crucial moments and set up a touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman that decided the game. The Chiefs won 25 to 22.

The Chiefs quarterback won his third MVP award out of his three titles. At the same time, he may try for a third consecutive Super Bowl next season, something no one has ever done. Not even the legendary Tom Brady has done it. The Chiefs dynasty came out in style.
