The Edmonton Oilers continue their winning ways with a victory in Calgary. David Pastrnak scored his seventh career 30-goal regular season in the demolition of the Canadiens, rising in the Bruins’ historical stats.

Edmonton extends winning streak

In the Calgary-Edmonton game (1:3), the Oilers notched their 13th consecutive win, setting a new NHL record. No other Canadian team in the NHL’s long history has won as many consecutive games. Not even the Montreal Canadiens in their most dominant era have won so many in a row.

The Canadiens managed to win twelve consecutive games in the 1967-68 season. However, Edmonton’s last game broke their record.

Oilers goalie Stuart Skinners contributed 26 saves to the win. And with 10 game-winning saves in a row, he tied Grant Fuhr’s club record from the 1985-86 season.

Pastrnak on pace for 30 goals in a season

Boston’s game with Montreal ended in a very wild result, as the Bruins blasted the Canadiens 9-4 at TD Garden. The home team made the most of the home field advantage, confirming that they are still the absolute top team of the current season.

For the Bruins, one of their forwards scored a hat trick for the second consecutive game. In the last game against the Avalanche, Pastrnak scored his 16th career hat trick and in the last game Danton Heinen scored his first NHL hat trick.

Czech goal scorer David Pastrnak contributed two points to the Canadiens’ demolition. For one goal and an assist. He had eight shot attempts in the game. But most importantly from an individual standpoint, it was his 30th goal of the current season. And he is only the third hockey player to surpass that mark in the current NHL season.

Auston Matthews (37) and the lifetime form Sam Reinhart (33) have scored more goals so far. Pastrnak surpassed that mark for the seventh time in his career. And in the current season, he is third in scoring with 66 points in 45 games played, and is also the third-best scorer.

In Boston Bruins history, Johnny Bucyk has also broken the 30-goal mark seven times in a season. Only the legendary Phil Esposito and Rick Middleton have done it more times in a Bruins jersey. Both players have surpassed that mark eight times.
