When things don’t go well, the team is expected to drag its leaders down! And David Pastrnak is showing that he is definitely a leader! After the Boston Bruins defeated the San Jose Sharks 3:0 and ended their streak of three straight defeats, he was able to triumph over the Toronto Maple Leafs 4:3 in overtime! And the win was directed by “Pasta”. He scored one goal and assisted on two.

David Pastrnak is a leader

Especially the assist on the decisive goal by another team leader Brad Marchand a few seconds before the end of regulation time was worth it! Pastrňák didn’t convert the breakaway himself, but he still managed to react, finish the puck and hand it to his captain. It was clear who would get the award for the 1st star of the game.

“Marchand did a great job of getting the puck and setting me up. The finish didn’t work out, but I immediately noticed he was open in front of the net and tried to get the puck to him. In the end, it worked out great.

It was a very important goal for us and I’m glad that it was scored by “Marchy”. It was a battle of two teams in the Original Six on a Saturday night. I really enjoyed it,” Pastrnak praised after the final horn.

The Czech hockey player improved his record this year to 36 points on 14 goals and 22 assists and is the second most productive player in the league behind Nikita Kucherov.

Pastrňák had the most shots on goal in the game with ten. He scored his 66th opening goal of the game, moving him ahead of Phil Esposito (65) into fourth place in Boston Bruins history in that statistic. He trails only Patrice Bergeron (89), Johnny Bucyk (85) and Brady Marchand (75).

Boston Bruins currently

Boston has now tied the Eastern Conference leader, the New York Rangers, in points. If we take into account the overall NHL standings, only the Vegas Golden Knights are better, with 36 points. However, the latter has several games to play.

Boston will face the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight, after which the Bruins will have four days off before facing the Buffalo Sabres and the Arizona Coyotes the next day.

After the New Jersey Devils and the New York Islanders, the highly anticipated battle between the two best teams in the Eastern Conference will take place on December 17th, when Boston will take on the Rangers at TD Garden.
