Although we are only halfway through the tennis season, the possible line-up for the Champions Tournament is slowly taking shape. Which Czech Republic players could be represented there?
For now, the best tennis player in 2021 is Australian Ashleigh Barty. The 25-year-old tennis player has dominated the events in Melbourne, Miami and Stuttgart and has won a total of 3,311 points. She should not miss the Champions Tournament in Shenzhen.
Karolína Plíšková is the best of our tennis players at the moment. This is mainly due to her final appearance at the tournament in Rome. The native of Louny scored 1,235 points, which is enough for twelfth place.
In thirteenth place we can find Petra Kvitova. The two-time Wimbledon winner will dominate the Doha event in 2021, which is played on a hard surface. She currently has 1,146 points.
The 14th position is occupied by Moravia. Karolína Muchová, who could only play five tournaments due to injury, is on it. Despite that, she has already gained 1,126 points and can compete for a place in the Champions Tournament.
Barbora Krejcikova is also among the elite 20, and this is her most successful season in singles. The finalist of the Dubai tournament currently has 1,008 points, which is the fourth highest score among our tennis players.
But Markéta Vondroušová is not without a chance either. The talented tennis player from Sokolov has earned 672 points in the current season, which puts her in 28th place. At the same time, she is probably the last tennis player from the Czech Republic that we could see in a tournament for the chosen ones.
