Part of Africa is on Kurt Zouma’s side! Adidas is racist according to some
Kurt Zouma probably regrets quite a bit what has become public. A video of the French defender physically attacking his cat has circulated around the world and stirred up huge emotions, but not just in the British Isles!
Kurt Zouma probably regrets quite a bit what has become public. A video of the French defender physically attacking his cat has gone around the world and stirred up huge emotions, but not just in the British Isles!
The whole thing is also being closely watched by people in Africa and some of them see the whole thing as racist. The influential Twitter profile The People’s Watchman (1.8 million followers) is very clear, and has dedicated several tweets to the whole case. What does it say?
According to him, Zouma’s act is wrong, but if a white footballer had committed similar behaviour, an apology would have been enough and no more would have been dealt with. Do you think he’s right?
And who’s behind the profile? Apparently, it’s the third most followed politician in Kenya. He has tweeted and retweeted several more.
Zouma lost his contract with Adidas because of his inappropriate behavior. The People’s Watchamon didn’t like that either. He brought up the 2011 case where Luis Suárez was supposed to racially abuse Patrice Evra and Adidas didn’t act then.
“The white world is playing fair with the cat. Their countries got rich from kidnapping and selling our ancestors. Their museums are full of stolen artifacts. Today they control our minerals, own our land, and whatever is stolen from us is stored in their banks. Hypocrites!”
“If blacks were treated like cats, racism would have ended years ago.”
This is just a list of some of the tweets from Africa. Where animal abuse and racism are mixed in the same bowl. The whole Zouma and the cat thing is horrible, but it shouldn’t be dragged in with other topics that just add fuel to the fire.
