In hockey, the Czech-Swedish partners have reached the highest level together. With Tampa, they have won the Stanley Cup twice in a row, the third time they failed in the final. Now they’ll try for soccer success as well.
Both Palat and Hedman are among the co-owners of Argyle Green LLC, an American investment company that has now bought a 20 percent stake in the football club. The investment cost them four million pounds (120 million crowns).
“I’ve been a football fan all my life and I’m thrilled to have joined Plymouth as an investor and fan,” Hedman explains of the move.
Traditional English club Plymouth Argyle was founded back in 1886, the highest it played in the Championship. A year ago they were promoted to League One and climbed to a respectable 7th place. In the first round of the new season they beat Barnsley 1: 0.
Hedman and Palat fought together for the Lightning for ten years. Their paths parted in early July, when the Czech goaltender did not receive a corresponding offer and headed to the New Jersey Devils.
