On Monday morning, the well-known Italian football site Football Italia reported that German giant Bayern Munich will join the fight for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
The Bavarian club simply could not find an adequate replacement for him after parting with record signing Robert Lewandowski last year.
That should have been the former Liverpool forward Sadio Mané, but he did not follow up his performance at the English club. Mané has a contract in Munich until the end of June 2025. He has scored only eleven goals in 32 competitive matches for Bayern.
In any case, the latest speculation, especially after the Sané incident, is that Bayern will want to sell him in the summer. Bringing in a classic goal-killer is thus more than on the agenda.
Osimhen as a replacement for Mané?
One of the attacking options could definitely be the Nigerian Osimhen. The twenty-four-year-old Lagos native has featured in twenty-three league games in the current campaign, scoring 21 goals and assisting on another five.
Osimhen also helped Napoli significantly in the Champions League, netting three of his team’s five goals in the eighth-final against Frankfurt.
Moreover, in the last few games, it has been evident how different Napoli is in terms of the way they play, whether Osimhen is on the pitch or not. It is absolutely important news for the Partenopei that the Nigerian striker will be available to the team for the upcoming Champions League rematch against AC Milan.
Bayern have reportedly earmarked €100 million for the transfer of Osimhen. However, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has sent a clear message to all interested parties. They will reportedly consider a potential transfer if the price offer goes up to 150 million.
