Napoli have been in incredible form this season. It is thriving in all competitions, dominating even the Italian Serie A with unexpected ease, where it could win the coveted title after years. Even if it wasn’t exactly on the cards before the season.
Victor Osimhen is a big part of that. He is currently in his third season with Vesuvius. Previously he defended the colours of clubs like Wolfsburg, Charleroi and Lille. The Partenopei bought him from France for a hefty sum of 70 million euros.
So far, it can’t be said that the 23-year-old Nigerian hasn’t paid off for the club. At his age, he shows considerable potential and is one of Napoli’s driving forces. This season alone, he has scored 10 goals in 14 games and added 3 assists.
Overall, he has played 76 games for the Italian side with a record of 38 goals and 12 assists. It is no wonder that the Serie A leader would demand an astronomical sum for him. But it seems that Osimhen himself is not thinking of leaving.
When asked by journalists how happy Diego Armando Maradona is at the Stadio, he gave a clear answer. “Not even 100%, but 1001%. This is the life I want to live. I am at one of the biggest clubs in Europe, in one of the best leagues,” Football-Italia quoted him as saying.
Osimhen has a huge appreciation for the current situation. He has experienced a lot in his career despite his young age. “I have overcome many obstacles, a lot of hatred, backstabbing. Some people only gave me two seasons. Two clubs in Belgium rejected me, I went through several life-threatening injuries,” he added.
In Naples, he learned to enjoy football and life. He is as happy as he can be. Any transfer could potentially cost him everything, it’s a risk. Moreover, he is under contract at the club until the summer of 2025 and Napoli will certainly try to keep him.
