It was a real battle, but Jiri Prochazka made it and became the first Czech fighter who not only participated in the UFC title fight, but even managed to fight his opponent and win! How are the fans reacting to his performance and the fight against Teixeira?

The Moravian fighter was able to defeat the forty-two year old Glover Teixeira in the championship bout, however, he deserves a lot of respect for his fierce and very good performance.

Procházka was still losing against Teixeira at the very end, but with twenty-eight seconds to go, he ended the fight with a technique applied to his opponent by the Brazilian wrestler himself.

Although the native of Hostěradice won the title match, which is a candidate for the match of the year, he was not at all satisfied with his performance.

“It was a terrible performance on my part. Honestly. You saw the match, I only survived some moments, but my plan, my attitude in life is to dominate, not to survive. I have to be a hunter, I have to improve that next time,” Procházka said at the press conference.

Public reaction

So how does the public evaluate this fight and Procházka’s performance? There were several comments under the O2 TV Sport twitter post. Some of them praise the victory of the Moravian fighter, others try to tame the situation.

“I’m still counting heart attacks and that fight? I still don’t understand what kind of war I saw,” added one of the comments by a user with the nickname johnypako.

Another fan, however, responds to the caption of O2 TV Sport, saying that this is one of the greatest achievements in the history of Czech sport.

“I consider Mr. Zátopek, Mrs. Čáslavská, the golden boys from Nagano, the world record of Železný or the career of Jaromír Jágr to be the greatest success of Czech sport. Of the modern ones, Krpálek, Sáblíková or Petr Čech. Certainly not one game won in the cage, although it was a great game.”

A lot of comments can also be found under the Twitter post of Ondrej Novotny, who did not hide his enthusiasm on Twitter.

“Sportsman of the year! That’s the only way to put it,” added Jira Kryštofků. “Nagano!!!” adds Standa Dvořák.

“Interestingly scored second round that gave it to Teixeira. And I think that in the second and third round, when Teixeira was getting bombs, it could have been over. I think in the Octagon, at least the third round would have ended in a TKO for Jiri,” JohnyACS thinks.

“I don’t understand the scoring here at all, Jirka was clearly better than Teixeira in the second, third and fourth rounds, yet all it took was a few seconds and he wouldn’t have had the belt,” doesn’t understand the scoring of David Chrastecky.

The fans’ reactions after the fight vary, of course, but they all probably agree on one thing. Procházka was dominant especially in the previous fights and deservedly won the title.
