One less competitor for the Czech duo? Leverkusen could get rid of its striker, Italian giant or St. Petersburg interested

Bayer Leverkusen has made a great start to the new season, but although there are three players from the Czech Republic in the squad, none of them are currently playing. Patrik Schick is injured, Adam Hložek and Matěj Kovář are fighting for a place. However, Schick will have to fight for his place when he returns. That’s why it’s good news that one competitor could leave the offensive line.

A high and unequivocal win in the cup and a well managed first round of the Bundesliga. Bayer Leverkusen is having a fantastic start to the season compared to last season. A year ago, they crashed out of the cup with a third-league opponent and then failed to do well in the league.

This year, after the cup win, Xabi Alonso’s charges managed to start the league season with an important victory over Leipzig, which was also mentally boosted by a 3-0 win over Bayern in the Super Cup.

But from the point of view of a Czech fan, there is not much to be satisfied with in the case of Leverkusen. Patrik Schick is injured, the man who came in his place, Victor Boniface, shows interesting potential. Adam Hložek is fighting for a place. Matej Kovar is waiting for the same.

Leverkusen’s offense has some interesting names. Besides Schick and Hložek, there are Florian Wirtz, Jonas Hofmann, Amine Adli and Sardar Azmoun. There is no shortage of competitors.

However, the last mentioned player could leave Germany. Azmoun has failed to make a name for himself in Leverkusen in a year and a half, and hasn’t even remotely followed up the great scoring season he had at Zenit St. Petersburg.

Last season, on the other hand, he burned a lot of chances. At 28 years old, the club doesn’t see that much potential in him anymore and so his future is being discussed. According to Bild and Kicker, he is looking for a new deal and there are two options in play.

AC Milan are interested in Azmoun. The Rossoneri should have already reached an agreement with him and the footballer himself is in favour of the move. However, Zenit St Petersburg are also said to be interested and are willing to pay the required €5 million for the Iranian.
