Left back
Just looking at the nomination of the defenders, it is clear where the coaching staff will be boiling the most water. There are three options on the left edge of defence, but none of them are 100%.
Aleš Matějů has been here for a long time, but on the other hand he hasn’t played much in Italy in the last few weeks. A more offensive option would be Jan Sýkora, who has been performing well in Plzeň and sometimes fills in on the left side of the defence.
Michal Sadílek also has experience with this position, but Jaroslav Šilhavý will need him in the centre of midfield.
Right stopper
Before the summer Euros, Czech fans were complaining about the pairing of Ondřej Čelůstka, Tomáš Kalas, now neither is available. Considering Šilhavy’s long-standing conservative behaviour, we can expect a matched pair, so experiments with the out-of-favour Tomas Petrášek are not too likely.
So who will stand next to Tomáš Holeš? David Zima may not have played the last five Serie A games, but he is well acquainted with Holes. The deployment of the experienced Jakub Brabec, who plays week in week out in the Greek league, will not come as a surprise either.
The right winger
On the right side of the offensive line there is a great debut. Ondřej Lingr has been in very good form at the start of the spring, and with thirteen goals he is also the second top scorer in the Fortuna Liga. On a line with Lukáš Masopust and in attack with former teammate Jan Kuchta, it could work.
Jakub Pesek, the first choice of recent months, has given one single decent performance since the winter break (in the cup derby with Slavia 2: 0). On the other hand, his strength in one-on-one battles could come in handy in a match like this.
