Bianca Andresescu will not participate in the Olympics. The reasons for her decision are purely personal, no health issues are bothering her.
It may have something to do with the fact that it will be held without spectators. For example, Nick Kyrgios has cancelled his participation because of this.
Despite missing the sporting event of the year, she will have a tough end to the season. She is defending her title from the US Open, so it will be very challenging for her to stay in the top 10. Overall, she is defending up to 70% of the points she earned in 2019.
She simply has different goals in the current season and she has to prepare herself in the best possible way. From this point of view, it is quite understandable. Time will tell if this decision was the right one.
The Olympic tournament will have to do without some big stars.
Nadal, Thiem, Kyrgios or Williams will not be in the medal fight. Djokovic and Federer are also considering their participation.
