Oliveira reports a new weapon! Makhachev has a lot to worry about. I’ll beat him in the first round, promises the Brazilian
The UFC will offer the tournament of the year this weekend, at least for now. In the main event, Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev will battle for the lightweight title. The Russian is the slight favorite for now, but the Brazilian has come with some interesting news that could turn the odds around quickly.
The UFC will offer the tournament of the year this weekend, at least for now. In the main event, Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev will battle for the lightweight title. The Russian is the slight favorite for now, but the Brazilian has come with some interesting news that could turn the odds around quickly.
So this is going to be awesome. Charles Oliveira could have defended his belt on Saturday, however he failed to make weight before his fight with Justin Gaethje and lost the title. However, he dispatched his opponent in the fight itself and plans to repeat the great performance at UFC 280.
This time his opponent will be Islam Makhachev, i.e. Khabib Nurmagomedov’s ward. Although the Russian is the favourite, it is worth noting that while Oliveira has beaten every top lightweight, Makhachev has not had a single fight with anyone in the top 5.
Surprisingly, Oliveira still doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. Not even from Makhachev’s trainer Khabib. However, the Brazilian has come up with news that might scare the Russian quite a bit.
The King of Submissions has previously stated that he has major vision problems. He said he could barely see halfway without his glasses. He saw his opponent three times in the matches and had to hit the middle one. But that’s over now.
“I had an operation and my eyes are now 100 per cent perfect. I can see everything now. I will beat Islam in the first round and then celebrate,” the Brazilian fighter told SI.
Oliveira currently has 11 wins in a row. Only once during that streak has the Brazilian failed to stop an opponent before the limit.
He also commented on how he lost his title due to a controversial weight mismatch: “I was robbed. That’s all I can say. I’m the rightful champion and I’ll prove it again when I get back in the cage.”
The Brazilian also reminds us that while Makhachev is walking the path trodden by Khabib, he is walking his own path. He’s beaten former champions, he’s beaten all the top 5 fighters. Now he will do his best to take his belt back.
