On Saturday we will find out the name of the new middleweight champion of the Octagon! Patrik Kincl will make his debut in the biggest Czechoslovakian organization and will challenge the interim title holder Samuel Kristofich. What to expect from the fight and what to bet on?

The long-awaited fight, which was supposed to take place at the end of last year, is finally here! The Pirate and Patrik Kincl will face each other for the middleweight title in the Octagon this Saturday.

Kincl is the big favourite according to the bookmakers and the bettors themselves, with odds of 1.20 currently written for him to win, while Samuel Kristofich is listed at a high 4.04.

The fact is that in terms of experience or quality of opponents, the Czech fighter should clearly have the upper hand in this Czechoslovakian battle. However, the pirate can surprise, and he can take a lot of abuse.

The toughest opponents Kincl has faced are undoubtedly Karlos Vémola or Robert Soldič, who was his last opponent. Soldic is headed to the UFC, currently one of the best fighters of his weight class outside of the world’s best organization.

The Pirate, for a change, has faced ever-improving champion David Kozma or Marcin Naruszczka in the past.

If there’s anything where Kincl could give Pirate a real run for his money, it’s on the ground. The Czech fighter also showed great ground skills in his last fight with Soldic, whom he managed to control in the second round.

However, the Pirate never lost early, only three losses were on points, while he himself ended nine of his 14 fights (4 KOs, 5 submissions) early.

Kincl, however, has a KO punch in his hand, even though many may argue otherwise. After all, he proved it in KSW, where he scored two wins by KO/TKO. Overall, he has finished half of his fights this way, while he has only six fights finished by submission.

They both want to finish the fight as soon as possible, but the Pirate definitely doesn’t have the power of Soldic, so it won’t be easy. The outcome and length of the fight will depend on how much Kincl wants to keep the fight standing and how long Pirate resists any takedown attempts.

A win for Kincl should be very likely indeed, it’s just a matter of when it happens. The Pirate will definitely be resisting, the fight should go to the third round at least. Kinclo’s win on points will not be a surprise, with decent and tempting odds written on it.
