Octagon announces the arrival of another UFC veteran! Seasoned fighter will test the middleweight fighters
Oktagon has an expected tournament in Liberec, where Jan Gottvald was supposed to present himself after a long time. However, he decided to retire at the beginning of the month and the organization was looking for an opponent for Jorick Montagnac, whom he was supposed to face. As a result, UFC veteran Andrew Sanchez signed with the Octagon.

Jan Gottvald last appeared in the cage last September. That’s when he defeated Edilson Franco after a three-year layoff. And he was supposed to be in action again this year. On April 15th in Liberec, he was supposed to face the up-and-coming Jorick Montagnac.
Montagnac has three wins in a row in the Octagon, last time he knocked out Daniel Škvor in the first round, before that he also took on Pavel Langer, who will fight for the interim welterweight title, and Jozef Jaloviar.
But Gottvald retired relatively shortly before the fight. So Montagnac is still without an opponent, although the organization is trying to find one as soon as possible. Unfortunately, two options have not worked out yet.
One name will definitely please all fans though, as Ondrej Novotny confirmed on the MMA Flying Around the World podcast that he will be checking out the middleweight fighters. Specifically, it will be Andrew Sanchez, a UFC veteran.
“Is it 100%? Yeah, it’s 100 percent. I’ve already arranged a medallion with Sanchez, which would be a fantastic replacement. He’s a dude that went toe-to-toe with Macho (Muradov) in the UFC, he’s an Ultimate Fighter winner. We were already set, we had the passports sent, the contract, everything, and then all of a sudden it fell through,” Novotny said.
“But the good news is that the middleweight guys can be happy that we’re done. We’re going to sign a contract and we’re going to have Andrew Sanchez here so the guys at 84 can test themselves with a nice dude.”
Sanchez currently has a record of 13-7, and has had 9 fights in the UFC with a record of 4-5. He has fought the likes of Anthony Smith and Marvin Vettori.
